Ellen DeGeneres, who has supported gun control legislation, said on her social media account:

"No words, no actions, no laws are enough until we end this epidemic of school shootings in our country. My heart is with the students and parents of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School."

Filmmaker Judd Apatow slammed the president in a response to Trump's tweet offering his "prayers and condolences."

"You are a dangerous idiot who is too much of a coward to reject the NRA," the Big Sick producer wrote. "All of this blood is on your hands. You set the agenda."

Similarly, Chelsea Handler told Republicans "You all have blood on your hands" in a tweet encouraging her followers to "elect candidates that are not funded by the NRA in November."
