WTA Finals: Caroline Garcia beats Caroline Wozniacki; Elina Svitolina beats Simona Halep

France's Caroline Garcia produced a stunning fightback against Denmark's Caroline Wozniacki WTA Finals to reach the last four at the expense of world number one Simona Halep.
Garcia recovered from a desperate first set to beat Wozniacki 0-6 6-3 7-5, and then had to wait for the result of the final round-robin match in Singapore.
Elina Svitolina beat top seed Halep 6-3 6-4 to ensure Garcia won the Red Group.
Karolina Pliskova will replace Halep as number one if she wins the title.
The semi-final line-up on Saturday sees eighth seed Garcia take on American fifth seed Venus Williams, and sixth seed Wozniacki up against Czech third seed Pliskova.
Garcia continued the superb run of form that saw her grab the last qualifying place for Singapore and, after losing to Halep in her opening match, recover from 3-5 down in the final set of her next two matches.
Wozniacki, who had already qualified from the Red Group after two wins, had lost just four games in five sets of tennis after taking the opener 6-0 against Garcia.
However, the Dane could not finish the job despite serving for the match and getting within two points of victory.
"She was playing amazing in the first set, I was a little down," said Garcia, who came back from for the second match in a row.
"Finally I found my rhythm but like the previous match it was up and down but I finished well."
